About Whole Being

What is Whole Being?

As a young, working mother, I felt like my life was on overdrive, just like every other mom I knew.  Busy juggling my business, the boys' schedules and grabbing take out on the way to soccer practice, being exhausted was normal.  Or was it?  Looking back, my body was talking to me, but I was too busy to listen.

Just before turning 40, my body finally got my attention.  I found myself on the floor of my son's archery tournament, completely paralyzed on my left side.   It took six months of "specialist" and being offered prescriptions I didn't need for me to finally find my answer and a doctor who practiced Functional Medicine.  It was overwhelming to say the least.  He told me what I needed to do, but how was I supposed to add that into my daily life?  I felt like I was drinking from a fire hydrant.

I have spent the past several years making small changes and becoming a whole human again.  Whole Being grew out of my desire to help others not feel overwhelmed and alone, as I did in the beginning, when making lifestyle changes.

As a Certified Health Coach through the Institute of Functional Medicine and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practioner, I work with moms who are just like me, wanting to be healthy, balanced and whole.

What is Functional Medicine?

The functional medicine model of care offers a patient-centered approach to chronic disease management. It seeks to answer the question, “Why are you ill?” so you can receive personalized, effective care for your needs.

The doctor of the future will no longer treat the human frame with drugs, but rather will cure and prevent disease with nutrition.

How smooth is your ride?

One of the first areas we will assess is the Wheel of Wellness. There are many areas of our lives that can affect our journey to being whole. This wheel helps you address where to start and where you are now.

Think of this wheel like the tires on your car. Ideally we want a round wheel so that we have a smooth ride.  But what if one area is lacking or neglected?  Would you ever drive with a triangle shaped tire? Of course not!

Through our initial assessment and working together, we will identify areas of your life that need attention. A balanced life does not happen overnight. Making changes one at a time, no matter how big or small, will smooth out that tire and allow you to create your own path to being whole.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Jen in three words: cool, calm, and collected. I have had the honor of working with Jen as my health coach over the last few months. She has been incredibly supportive and challenges me in ways I never thought possible. Her questions are thoughtful and encourage me to dig deeper into my why. After working with Jen, I have begun to see transformation in how I view not only my physical health, but also the emotional and spiritual side of my chronic condition. Thank you, Jen!
